| The Council's mission is to promote ethical leadership and accountability through advocacy of best ethical practices and applied ethics education. We want to change the mindset in which people approach ethics-related decisions. With assistance from our Advisory Board, we have identified events to further our mission. The purpose of these events is to 1) encourage ethical dialogue, 2) promote best ethical practices and 3) develop new ethical leaders. Although still in the planning stages, the Council is committed to the offering the following events during 2008-2009. |

| 2008 Fall Event: A Symposium on the Economic Crisis |
|
The Council’s 25th Anniversary Celebration, A Symposium on the Economic Crisis, was a resounding success! Over 200 Council members, community members, students and faculty attended to hear the following panel members speak about the nation’s current economic crisis:
- Mark Schweitzer, Senior VP and Director of Research for the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland;
- Ohio Attorney General Nancy H. Rogers;
- Jim Coons, Principal of J.W. Coons Advisors and Chair of Gov. Ted Strickland’s Council of Economic Advisers;
- Michael Distelhorst, Capital University Professor of Law (legal, business and leadership ethics) and immediate past Executive Director of the Council for Ethical Leadership;
- Peter Klingelhofer, Senior Portfolio Manager for the State Teachers Retirement System; and
- Erick Zanner, Principal of JDM Investment Counsel and Capital University Professor.

Interactive Discussion Series: The Council will host an Interactive Discussion series. The purpose of this series is to have open, interactive discussions on timely ethics-related issues. This event will be open to members and students and will be held a minimum of four times annually. |

| Ethics Officer Breakfast Forum: The Council will host a quarterly Ethics Officer Breakfast Forum. The purpose of these forums is for local Ethics Officers to learn from one another, brainstorm solutions to issues and share best practices. Topics for these forums will vary depending upon the needs of members. |

Beyond the events listed above, the Council has many additional activities it plans to be able to offer in the near future. Some of these include the following:
- an "Ethics Roadshow Series" in which member organizations host and set the topic for discussion. This series will be open to Council members as well as employees of the host organization;
a "Best Practices Series" in which leaders from various disciplines will discuss ethical challenges they have faced and overcome;
a "Leadership Development Series" in which new managers and managers in training will learn ways to approach ethical decision making; opportunities for collaborative interaction between Council partners and Capital’s diverse faculty, students and programs; and
- networking opportunities to enhance access to community ethics resources and expertise.
